Why We Built This Site
Minnesota has no statewide warrant page that a member of the public can search. Warrants stay with the county and with the court that issued them. A state statute does require counties to make warrant information available to other criminal justice agencies through the BCA warrant file, but that is a law enforcement sharing rule, not a public search right. A reader in Clearwater County is left with a short list of places to try: the sheriff's active warrant list, the district court counter at the courthouse in Bagley, and the state's Minnesota Court Records Online search for case material. Each one answers a different question, and a person who checks only one of them can walk away wrongly convinced that nothing is outstanding.
The published list is also thinner than it looks. It carries a warrant number, a name, a date issued, a bond figure, and a charge line, and it reloads each morning with a visible update stamp. There is no name search, no city filter, no case type filter, and no way to sort it. It is not a certified court record either, and a name on the list can belong to someone else entirely. That is why every page here points a reader to the office behind the row instead of treating the table as a final answer.
Distance matters in this county too. Clearwater County covers just under 1,000 square miles, and its only district court building is in Bagley, which is a long drive from Gonvick, Shevlin, or Leonard. Phone calls, the state case search, and written data requests are not extras for those residents. They are often the whole process, and they deserve the same clear directions as a counter visit.
What You Will Find Here
The pages below follow one pattern. Each starts with the office that holds the record, then walks through the search, the request, or the resolution step a reader actually needs.
- Warrant lookups: how to run a warrant search by name, date of birth, or case number through the sheriff and the court
- Outstanding warrants: how the county's active warrant list works and what an "active" status does and does not mean
- Missed court dates: how bench warrants arise after a failure to appear and which court holds them
- Charge-based warrants: how arrest warrants are issued on probable cause, served, and answered in court
- Resolving a warrant: the steps behind a recall, a quash, a voluntary appearance, or a bond, written out on the home page and on the warrant pages that fit the situation
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any Minnesota court, sheriff's office, or state agency, and there are real limits on what we can help with.
- We cannot run an official warrant check or confirm whether a warrant exists for anyone
- We cannot recall, quash, clear, or remove a warrant from any system
- We cannot accept payment toward a bond or post bond for anyone
- We cannot arrange a surrender, a court date, or a walk-in appearance at the courthouse
- We cannot give legal advice or say how a specific warrant, charge, or court date applies to you
- We cannot promise that every phone number, fee, or listing described here is current at the moment you read it
Only the court that issued the warrant or the sheriff's office that holds it can confirm whether a warrant exists and whether it has been recalled, served, or sealed. We can point you to the right office, but the answer has to come from them.
Search Partners
Some pages on this site carry search boxes powered by outside providers. Those companies run their own services and set their own prices. When you use one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee, and that revenue keeps this site free to read. We do not control what a partner charges or what its results contain, and nothing a partner returns is an official warrant check. Confirm anything that matters with the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office or the district court.
