Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Anything you type into a search box on this site travels straight to the outside company that runs that search. That provider handles the query and hands back the results. We do not keep a record of the names, dates, or other terms you enter, and we cannot see what you searched for after the page loads.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we hold on to the message so we can write back. Your note stays with our team. We do not pass it to anyone outside the organization unless a legal obligation forces us to.
Data We Gather Automatically
Whenever a page here loads, our servers pick up a set of technical details about the visit:
- Which browser you are using, and its version
- The IP address your device is using
- Your operating system and the type of device
- Timestamps for each page view
- The pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The site that referred you here, if there was one
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files your browser stores on your device. They help us see how visitors move through the site, which pages get the most traffic, and where people tend to leave. Analytics services help us pull that traffic data together. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time. A few parts of the site may behave differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
We use the information described above for a short list of purposes, all of them tied to running the site:
- Sending your search request to the partner service that handles it
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Seeing which pages help readers and which ones need work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Showing advertising that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, build, compile, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. We publish general directions about where Clearwater County warrant records sit and how to check them through the sheriff's office, the district court in Bagley, and the state's public case search. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is turned into a consumer report or a file on any third party. Records that the county or the court holds are classified under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, including the law enforcement data rules at Minnesota Statutes section 13.82, and those rules belong to the agencies that hold the records, not to us.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site are run by outside companies. Whatever you enter into one of those tools is processed under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those companies decide how long they keep search data and who they share it with, and we have no control over either. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to sheriff's office pages, court portals, state case search, legal aid resources, and third-party search tools. Clicking one of those links takes you off this site, and from that point the other site's privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before you share anything personal.
Some advertising partners may track your activity across sites in order to serve targeted ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not ours, and we cannot switch it off for you.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of information may reach the following:
- Analytics services that track traffic and performance for us
- Search partners that process the queries you run here
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- Law enforcement or another government body, when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We follow standard security practices to protect the data we collect. No site connected to the internet can promise perfect safety, and we will not pretend otherwise. We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never happen.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent data to us, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where you live, state privacy and consumer protection law may give you extra rights over the data a website holds about you. Whatever your state provides, you can ask us to do the following:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete the data we hold about you
- Stop certain kinds of processing
Keep in mind that this site holds very little about any visitor. The warrant records themselves sit with the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office and the district court, and access to those records is governed by the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act rather than by this policy.
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy can change. When it does, the new version appears on this page with a fresh effective date. Come back if you want to follow how we handle visitor information.
